The General Elections Commission (KPU) raised the honorarium of the voting group (KPPS) for the 2024 General Election from IDR 550 thousand to IDR 1.2 million.
"Thanks to government support, we can increase the honorarium for the KPPS, the chairman is Rp. 1.2 million and members are Rp. 1.1 million," said the Coordinator of the Human Resources Division, Organization, Education, Training and Research for KPU Development, Parsadaan Harahap, when met at the DKI Jakarta KPU building, Monday, December 11, confiscated by Antara.
Parsadaan said that in the 2019 Election, the KPPS, namely the chairman, only received Rp. 550 thousand and members of Rp. 500 thousand so that the increase in honorarium was considered as a spirit for the members.
According to him, although the KPPS only work for one month, namely January 25 to February 25, 2024, their responsibility and authority are extraordinary to determine the future of Indonesian democracy.
"Hopefully it can inspire those who become KPPS to be able to work better optimally and focus," he said.
In addition, his party also prepared credit for the needs of KPPS members in using cell phones as a means of communication.
"We are designing so that the credit can be used on D day with a suitable quota for task purposes," he said.
The hope is that with the presence of honorary money and the support of credit funds, it can help KPPS to carry out their duties properly without being burdened by budget technicalities.
The KPU ensures that all honorary funding sources are supported by the state budget (APBN).
Previously, the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) approved the proposed budget submitted by the KPU, for the honorarium of the District Election Committee (PPK), the Voting Committee (PPS), the Voting Organizing Group Group (KPPS), the Voter Registration Committee (Pantarih), the Overseas Voting Committee (PPLN) and the Overseas Voting Organizing Group (KPPSLN).
"So, at least there is an overview of honorarium for ad hoc bodies, especially for KPPS there has been a relatively large increase from Rp550,000 (KPPS chairman's horizon in the 2019 election) to Rp1,200,000 and for KPPS members from Rp500,000 to Rp1,100,000,” said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy’ari during a press conference at the KPU Office, Monday, August 8, 2022.
This decision is contained in the Letter of the Ministry of Finance Number S-647/MK.02/2022 dated August 5, 2022, regarding the Other Input Fee Units (SBML) for General Election Stages and Election Stages.
