Firli Bahuri's Pretrial Session Held Every Day, Decisions Read December 19

JAKARTA - The trial of the pretrial filed by the inactive Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri, will be held for seven consecutive days. It is scheduled that the reading of the verdict will be held on Tuesday, December 19.

"On Tuesday 19 December is the pronunciation of the verdict," said single judge Imelda Herawati during a trial at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, December 11.

Before determining the schedule for reading the verdict, Judge Imelda had time to make a trial agenda agreed upon by the applicant and the respondent.

It was said that today's trial was scheduled to read the application for a lawsuit against the applicant or Firli Bahuri's team of lawyers.

"Then on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, we will schedule it for the reading of the respondent's answer. We ask the applicant and the respondent whether to use their rights to apply for a replica and a duplicate," he said.

Firli Bahuri's party stated that they would use the opportunity to apply for a replica. Meanwhile, the respondent stated that he was following the judge's decision.

"For the reading of the answer, we will do it at 10 am. And we will be suspended until 5 hours, meaning 15.00. It means 3 o'clock, yes at 3 pm. That's a replica reading. And 5 hours later at the same time, meaning 8 pm, 20, it's past the time of praying for the Maghrib prayer or isya, we will do it for the duplication of the respondent. So the suspension time is both 5 hours, "said Judge Imelda.

Then, at the trial on Wednesday, December 13, a trial of evidence will be held. The respondent and the petitioner showed proof of the letter to strengthen the argument they submitted.

On Thursday, December 14, the agenda for the trial was witnesses and/or experts from the applicant. Full one day. We take advantage of it. On Friday 15 December 2023, the agenda is witnesses and/or experts of the respondent. We take full advantage of it one day," said Judge Imelda.

Firli Bahuri asked the panel of judges, Imelda Herawati, to order the Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Karyoto, to issue a Letter of Termination of Investigation (SP3) for the alleged corruption case that named him a suspect.

The request was contained in the petitum of Firli Bahuri's pretrial application which was read by his lawyer, Ian Iskandar, during a trial at the South Jakarta District Court.

"Ordered the respondent (Kapolda Metro Jaya) to stop the investigation of the applicant (Firli Bahuri)," said Ian.

Firli Bahuri was named a suspect in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22.

Several pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect, namely, foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion. Then, there were also the results of the extraction of 21 cellphones.

Firli was charged with Article 12e, 12B or Article 11 of Law number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Thus, it is threatened with life imprisonment.
