JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (MenkumHAM) Yasonna H Laoly said the large number of refugees from Rohingya to Indonesia because victims of the mafia and Indonesia will be aware of allegations of human rights violations. Even though many refugees are rejected by local residents, his party will still act if human rights violations are found such as syndicates of immigrants smuggling. "Indeed, this is a syndicate, someone has been arrested by the police. However, we also hope that we will be able to avoid this in the future, because they are also victims of the mafias that brought them," Yasonna said on the sidelines of commemorating Human Rights Day in the 75th World in Banteng Field, Central Jakarta, Sunday, December 10 evening. According to him, there are refugees who sell their property and then come here with the lure of a more decent life. "But now we see social reactions from our society (the ones who refuse). Cultural differences, cultural differences always occur," he explained.

Yasonna admitted that the arrival of the refugees disturbed a number of local residents, especially in Aceh and North Sumatra. So that his party will find the best way with relevant agencies to resolve the issue, while still paying attention to the human rights aspect. "Social impact, we don't follow, what's wrong, ratify the convention. But, I think Indonesia has done enough good things to accommodate refugees. There are now 15 thousand of us, almost 13 thousand more refugees, Afghanistan, Iran, the last Rohingya," he explained. In Medan, Yasonna continued, some time ago there (Rohingya refugees) burned themselves so that there were regional heads who no longer want to accept them.

He hopes that the local government, the central government and UNHCR together will find the right solution for that Meanwhile, Komnas HAM Chairman Atnike Nova Sigiro also said that his party will work together to help Rohingya refugees who are indicated to be victims of human rights violations. "Of course we have to encourage root resolution of the problem and I think that Indonesia by becoming a member of the Human Rights Council (PBB) can also encourage efforts to resolve Rohingya refugees through diplomacy at the United Nations," he added.
