Police Investigates Infant Trafficking Case In Medan, Buy IDR 5 Million, Sell IDR 28 Million

JAKARTA - The North Sumatra Regional Police are still investigating the case of infant trafficking in Medan, which was successfully uncovered some time ago.

Reported by Antara, Thursday, February 18, the Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, said that from the results of the investigation of the suspect who had been secured with the initials A, he bought the 14-day-old baby for Rp.

"He then sold it to our officer who undercovered it for Rp28 million," he said.

Hadi admitted that his party was still conducting an investigation to find the whereabouts of the baby's mother.

"We are still investigating the baby's parents. We are also still exploring the possibility that this is not the first time the suspect has done this," he said.

Currently the baby is still being treated at the Bhayangkara Hospital, Medan.

Previously, North Sumatra Regional Police Sub-Directorate IV / Renakta Directorate General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) revealed the trafficking of babies in the Asia Mega Mas region, Medan City on Monday, February 15.

The officers secured suspect A along with evidence in the form of two cellphones, Rp3,682,000 in cash, two ID cards, driver's license and motorbike registration.

In this case, the North Sumatra Regional Police charged the perpetrator with the crime of selling children under Article 76 F in conjunction with Law 35 of 2014 concerning child protection.
