JAKARTA - The European Union (EU) on Friday said it had added the names of two Al-Qassam Brigade commanders, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas group, to the bloc's terrorist list.
In a statement, the European Council said the two Hamas militants were the top military commander Mohammed Defif and deputy commander Marwan Issa.
A number of sanctions, which took effect on Friday, were imposed on them in response to the shocking attack Hamas launched against Israel on October 7.
"After entering the list, other financial funds and assets belonging to the two individuals in EU member countries will be frozen," the statement added, quoted by Antara.
Israel continued its military offensive in the Gaza Strip on December 1 after the end of a week-long humanitarian hiatus with Hamas.
The death toll in Israel from the Hamas attack was recorded at 1,200 people, according to official data.
