MAKASSAR - The video recording of a man pulling a cart in Makassar picking up rice on the street has gone viral on social media. It is narrated that this man deliberately threw away the rice and collected it again so that people would feel compassion.

In the video circulating, this man is seen picking up rice on the asphalt road at night. The rice is put in a plastic bag. The location of the incident was said to be in Toddopuli, Makassar on Tuesday, February 16 evening.

Regarding the viral video, Head of Makassar City Social Service Mukhtar Tahir only emphasized the prohibition of providing direct assistance to beggars on the streets.

"In matters like that, providing assistance on the road is not allowed," he said confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, February 17.

This prohibition is regulated in regional regulation (Perda) No. 2 of 2016. The issue regulates the prohibition of giving anything at public suggestion places in Makassar City.
