Waiting For Firli In The Second Examination As A Suspect, Will He Be Detained?

The head of the inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri, is scheduled to provide information as a suspect in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL, Wednesday, December 6.

The second examination of Firli Bahuri is a continuation of the previous one which took place on December 1. IPW encourages the police to detain the suspect.

"The investigation of the FB suspect will be carried out on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 10:00 WIB in order to request additional information," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to reporters, Monday, December 4.

During the examination later, Firli will be investigated regarding allegations of corruption in the form of extortion and gratification, both against Syahrul Yasin Limpo and officials of the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Around the alleged corruption that has occurred, the investigation is currently being carried out by the investigative team," said Ade.

Separately, Firli Bahuri's lawyer, Ian Iskandar, said that his client would fulfill the summons for questioning today. However, regarding the time of arrival, he did not specify it.

"Yes, come," said Ian.

Previously, the Head of IPW, Sugeng Teguh Santoso, urged the police to immediately detain the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri. According to IPW, Firli's detention was a form of commitment to equitable law enforcement.

"IPW emphasizes the importance of Firli's detention as an effort to emphasize that law enforcement must be fair, indiscriminate, in line with the concept of equality before the law," said Sugeng, Tuesday.

IPW also emphasized the need for Polda Metro to accelerate the investigation process and immediately fulfill all instructions from the research prosecutor and the DKI High Prosecutor's Office.

"IPW urges Firli's file to be immediately declared P-21 and submitted to the High Prosecutor's Office," continued Sugeng.

During the previous examination, Firli Bahuri was asked 40 questions. Deputy Director of Corruption at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Kombes Arief Adiharsa said investigators were investigating the issue of meetings and assets.

Dozens of questions asked by investigators have been fully answered by Firli in about 10 hours. Where, the examination process starts from 09.00 WIB to 19.00 WIB.

Questions from the investigators were also said to include 7 examination materials. Starting from Firli Bahuri's meeting with Syahrul Yasin Limpo to assets and wealth.

Meanwhile, in the circulating photo, Firli is known to have met SYL at one of the Sports Centers (GOR) in the Mangga Besar area, West Jakarta.

"The questions that are put on the rights of the person concerned as a suspect, the events of meetings and receipts of gifts or promises, communication that uses digital evidence," he said.

"The exchange of foreign exchange transactions, positions as KPK leaders and their obligations and prohibitions, assets and LHKPN, as well as assets or assets that are still owned," said Arief.

In the alleged extortion case, Firli Bahuri, who has the status of a suspect, is charged with Article 12e, 12B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Thus, it is threatened with life imprisonment.
