Billionaire Village In Tuban, Bought Hundreds Of Cars From Billions Of Pertamina Oil Refineries

TUBAN - Land acquisition for an oil refinery construction project in Sumurgeneng Village, Jenu District, Tuban Regency, covering an area of 21,410 square meters made residents suddenly become billionaires. The residents of Sumurgeneng Tuban received compensation from the land acquisition in the range of billions of rupiah.

"There are residents who receive compensation of up to Rp26 billion, some receive Rp9 billion. It depends on how much land is being compensated," said the Head of Sumurgeneng Village, Gihanto, Wednesday, February 17.

Ghianto said the residents who bought the car together came from a group of residents, the proceeds from land acquisition money. Local residents sell their land to Pertamina's oil refinery project, Grass Root Refinery (GRR) in 2020.

According to him, local residents receive a payment of Rp.600-800 thousand per meter. Meanwhile, the number of affected residents reached 280. They agreed that their land would be sold for a national project.

According to Gianto, the number of cars bought by its residents was 176 units. "Yesterday's video circulated only 17 new cars, one house bought two to three new cars," he said.

After going viral, continued Ghianto, Sumurgeneng Village was finally labeled as the new billionaire village in Tuban. This is because from the land acquisition for an oil refinery, the local people suddenly became rich. "We didn't expect it because people here used to be real farmers, and it turns out that there was land acquisition after the appraisal was judged to belong to many Sumurgeneng residents," he said.

For information, President Jokowi has long known about the potential for oil in Jenu District, Tuban Regency. In fact, Jokowi had even visited Sumurgeneng in 2015.

However, the majority of Sumurgeneng villagers work as farmers. This is because more than half of the village area, which reaches 70 square km, is agricultural land. Even the rice fields have been the source of life for the villagers for generations, with agricultural commodities such as rice, beans, vegetables and cassava.
