Three Missing Students On Mount Masurai Jambi Found

JAMBI - The Kerinci Post SAR Team from National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Jambi, assisted by a joint team, found three students of the Sultan Thaha Saifuddin State Islamic University (UIN STS) Jambi who were declared missing on Tuesday, February 16. They disappeared while on Mount Masurai, Merangin Regency.

"After the joint SAR team searched for almost three hours tracing the Mount Masurai climbing route, the team finally found the three students of UIN STS Jambi who had been declared missing while climbing. The three of them were in good health and safety", said Basarnas Jambi Public Relations Officer M Lutfi quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 16th.

The three students of UIN STS Jambi who disappeared when they came down from Mount Masurai were Rahayu (20), Romlah (21), and Nuri (20). When found, the three of them were in good health and safety. Currently, they have been brought down to the post by the SAR team", he said.

The three climbers were found by the SAR team and nature lovers from Tanjung Berugo Village in a safe condition at the location or the distance from Sei Lalang Village to Tanjung Beruga Village approximately 1.5 hours.

Basarnas Jambi through the SAR Post in Kerinci Regency initially received a report from the village head that three climbers of Mount Masurai in Merangin Regency, Jambi Province which was 69 km away from Kerinci were missing.

The team immediately searched for the missing victim, the weather conditions on the mountain were cloudy with a temperature of 20-24 degrees Celsius.

The chronology was on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 16, three victims wanted to come down from the summit of Mount Masurai. Five other people then followed the three victims.

"However, after five colleagues who followed down from Mount Masurai, until now the three students of UIN STS Jambi were not found at the jungle door or the inn. The victim was indicated as missing which was confirmed by the presence of the victim's vehicle at the inn where they were staying before", said Lutfi.

Basarnas Jambi urges climbers to prepare climbing planning, reporting when they want to climb, and communication tools to be prepared, bring a whistle or marker, and lastly, never split up with the team while climbing.
