Condolences, Jokowi Condolences For Doni Monardo's Death

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo expressed his deep condolences for the death of former head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo. "First of all, I would like to convey on behalf of myself and the Government, express my condolences, express my deepest condolences to Mr. Doni Monardo's extended family," said Jokowi at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, December 4. Jokowi prays for the spirit of Doni Monardo to be accepted by Allah Swt and to have the best place on His side and forgiven for all his sins. Previously, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin also expressed a sense of loss for the death of Doni Monardo. Ma'ruf Amin remembers Doni Monardo as a figure of integrity whose ability is very much needed by the state. "The vice president respects his integrity as a figure, so that a figure like him is very much needed by the state," said Vice President Masduki Baidlowi in Jakarta, Sunday night. Doni Monardo died on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at around 17.35 WIB. Since being inaugurated as the head of BNPB in January 2019, Doni Monardo initiated the formation of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 which later became a Task Force (Satgas) Handling COVID-19 in March 2020. Based on an official statement from the Representative of the United Retired TNI-Army (PPAD), Brigadier General TNI (Purn) Bambang Irianto, in Jakarta, Sunday, Doni Monardo's body was buried at the funeral home on Jalan Bukit Golf II Block A Number 12, Lengkong Karya, North Serpong District, South Tangerang.

Monday morning, at around 08.00 WIB, Doni Monardo's body was released militarily from the funeral home to Mako Kopassus Cijantung led by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (Wakasad) Lt. Gen. Arif Rahman as inspector of ceremonies (irup). Doni Monardo was buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, South Jakarta, Jakarta, Monday. Doni Monardo's funeral ceremony was chaired directly by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, General TNI (Army), Maruli Simanjuntak.
