NTT Religious Leaders Support Ganjar Pressing The Crime Of Trafficking In Persons: Remove Poverty

ENDE - The Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) is a serious problem faced by the people of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). They hope that Indonesia's future leaders will pay serious attention to this matter.

This statement was made by Ende religious figure, Father Verno during a dialogue with Presidential Candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo at the Archdiocese of Ende, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Saturday, December 2.

In the discussion, Father Verno said that the case of trafficking in people in NTT was quite disturbing to the public.

Based on data from the NTT Provincial Government, 185 workers from NTT have been victims of TIP throughout the first half of 2023. Father Verno also hopes that if he is elected president, Ganjar-Mahfud will be able to overcome this problem.

"This NTT is increasing even more, and indeed this is the result of our analysis that it is difficult to remove and eliminate (TIP cases) in NTT," said Father Verno.

Responding to this, Ganjar said that one of the suspects' modes of doing TIP was mostly economic problems. This conclusion is drawn from various news circulating, including the experience he had during his leadership of Central Java.

"So in my opinion, one way to suppress TIP in NTT is with quality education and poverty alleviation. And one of our programs is to realize 1 poor family of 1 undergraduate," said Ganjar.

Through this program, he continued, the government will try to ensure that every poor family has a minimum of 1 undergraduate. The government will intervene and provide all facilities so that the child can receive education to a high level. With quality education and a slick poverty alleviation program, various criminal acts such as TIP will be able to be reduced.

The basic program is poverty, preventing it we have to alleviate poverty. So education is very important. There must be one undergraduate program, we believe it can be a solution because education can make them saved," he said.

Not only theory, Ganjar has proven this. While leading Central Java (Central Java) for two terms, he has built a free school program for SMKN Central Java for students from underprivileged families. And the program proved successful in improving the welfare of the student's family.

"We want to adopt it in national leadership later. And I am happy, many are of the attention of the priests and religious leaders here, including TIP. I think this is our common record and must be resolved," he concluded.
