Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Natuna Zulheppy said the extreme weather since 07.00 WIB, Friday, December 1, also caused a number of trees to fall.

Zulheppy said that currently his party together with the TNI/Polri officers are cleaning roads and houses that were hit by fallen trees.

"Temporary data shows that there is also a fallen tree on Sihotang Street, East Bunguran District, which hit a resident's house. Judging from his condition, it is not possible to live in tonight," he said.

He added that heavy rains in Natuna also caused river water to overflow. As a result, several roads were flooded with water and had to be closed so as not to cause accidents. "The Sihotang road is temporarily closed," he said.

Meanwhile, the Natuna Police Chief, AKBP Nanang Budi Santosa, said that his party deployed police and police personnel to be prepared in dealing with potential natural disasters in every area in the area.

"The police will continue to patrol disaster-prone areas to ensure the safety and security of the community," he said.

He appealed to the public to avoid high-risk activities during extreme weather.

"It's like fishermen not to go to sea if the weather is extreme and for people to avoid being near cliffs that are prone to landslides or large trees that are suddenly hit by strong winds," he said.
