JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana denied that there was an agenda for President Joko Widodo's meeting with the Chair of the KPK for the 2015-2019 period, Agus Rahardjo, who discussed Setya Novanto's legal process in the electronic ID card corruption case.
"Regarding Mr. Agus Rahardjo's statement submitted in a media, I would like to convey a few things. First, after checking there was no mention of the meeting in the presidential agenda," said Ari Dwipayana as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.
He said President Jokowi had emphasized that Setya Novanto would follow the legal process at the KPK, while believing that the legal process would run well.
The President's affirmation was stated in a press release published through the website of the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat on November 17, 2017. The release can be accessed in this link.
Ari said the legal process against Setya Novanto, which took place in 2017, finally went well and led to a court decision with permanent legal force.

Ari also emphasized that the revision of the KPK Law was an initiative of the DPR that took place in 2019, or two years after the determination of the suspect against Setya Novanto.
"It needs to be clarified that the revision of the KPK Law in 2019 was an initiative of the DPR. Not a government initiative," he said.
Previously, in the ROSI Kompas TV program hosted by senior journalist Rosiana Silalahi which aired on Thursday (30/11) night, Agus said that President Jokowi had asked him to stop the electronic ID card corruption case involving Setya Novanto.
