PKS Does Not Want DKI To Be Led By Ministry Of Home Affairs Officials For 2 Years When Elections Are Held In 2024

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKS DKI Jakarta Regional Management Board (DPW) Khoirudin refused to hold the Jakarta Pilkada to be held in 2024. The plan is for the 2022 and 2023 Pilkada to be held simultaneously in 2024.

It is known that the term of office of DKI Governor Anies Baswedan will expire in 2022. To fill the vacancy, the Capital City is led by an acting official (Plt) from the Ministry of Home Affairs for two years before the 2024 Pilkada.

"PKS, both in the DPR and DPRD, will continue to encourage and fight for the 2022 Pilkada, considering that the pause from 2022 to 2024 is too long. Plt from the Ministry of Home Affairs," said Khoirudin in his statement, Tuesday, February 16.

According to Khoirudin, the vacant position of definitive governor for two years is almost half of the Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD).

In fact, DKI needs leaders who carry out the implementation of development programs in the regions according to the RPJMD. Meanwhile, Plt cannot make strategic policies.

Khoirudin is worried that the two years of development in the Capital City will proceed without clear direction because there is no RPJMD to form the basis for the preparation of the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) and APBD.

"In fact, Jakarta is still facing big challenges in regional development, there are still problems in urban development and community welfare that need to be resolved, and this requires permanent, not temporary leadership," he said.

The government rejects the revision of the Election Law (RUU Pemilu) proposed by the DPR RI. in the Election Bill, the election schedule is normalized. The 2017 Pilkada will be continued in 2022, the 2018 Pilkada will be continued in 2023.

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno said Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Pilkada has regulated the provisions for simultaneous regional elections to be held in November 2024.

"So, the simultaneous regional elections in November 2024 have been stipulated in Law Number 10 of 2016. How come the law has not been implemented then we want to change it?" Pratikno said.
