In A Week, Immigration Recorded 1,084 Rohingya Ethnic Refugees Landing On The Coast Of Aceh

JAKARTA - The Immigration Division of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Aceh said, as many as 1,084 ethnic Rohingya Myanmar refugees landed on various coasts of Aceh in the last week (14-21 November 2023) by boat. "We have handled 1,084 Rohingya refugees from 14-21 November 2023," said Head of Immigration Division of the Aceh Ministry of Law and Human Rights Ujo Sujoto in Banda Aceh, Antara, Friday, November 24. Based on data from coordination with UNHCR, he said, the details of the arrival of Rohingya refugees to Aceh, namely, Tuesday, October 14 in Pidie Regency were 194 people consisting of 40 adult men and 49 adult women and 105 children. Then, on Wednesday also in Pidie 147 people with details of 30 adult men, 38 adult women and 79 children. Furthermore, on Sunday, November 19 in the district, 232 ethnic Rohingya were again visited, with details of 67 adult men, 87 adult women and 78 children. On the same day, Rohingya refugees also landed in Bireuen Regency as many as 256 people, including 62 adult men, 69 adult women and 125 children. Not only that, 36 Rohingya immigrants, with details of 7 adult men, 7 adult women and 22 children were also found in East Aceh in a yellow truck. Finally, on Tuesday (21/11) the Rohingya refugees returned to land in Aceh, this time in the Ujong Kareung area of Sabang City as many as 219 people. Consisting of 72 adult men, 91 adult women and 57 children. Overall, 1,084 Rohingya refugees consisted of 278 adult men, 341 women and 465 children. Currently, 511 refugees are temporarily placed in the former Lhokseumawe Immigration building, 341 in the Mina Raya Padang Tiji camp, and 232 people in the Kulee area of Pidie Regency. Previously, Acting Governor of Aceh Achmad Marzuki had appealed to the people of Aceh to be patient regarding the arrival of Rohingya Immigrants to the land of rencong, because they were in the process of being regulated. Marzuki said, the handling of Rohingya refugees is a humanitarian matter, and for further handling it will run according to the provisions.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, the UNHCR Indonesia official, Munawaratul said, so far the coordination between his party and the Central Government, Aceh Province and the regions related to the handling of refugees has been quite good. "Alhamdulillah, we appreciate the coordination, we appreciate and thank you for the collaboration from the government, the communication has been very good so far," said Munawaratul.
