Tangerang Regency KPU Finds 18 Of The 24,760 Voice Boxes Damaged

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Tangerang Regency found that 18 of the 24,760 ballot boxes were damaged after it was sorted.

"Yes, we found a damaged ballot box, indeed the condition was damaged due to pressure while on the delivery trip. A total of 18 out of 24,760 ballot boxes were received," said Tangerang Regency KPU chairman Muhammad Umar in Tangerang, Thursday, November 23, confiscated by Antara.

Umar explained that with the discovery of 18 ballot boxes that were damaged, his party immediately reported them to the Provincial KPU so that they could be replaced immediately to be sent to their area.

"Now we have data and report it to the Provincial KPU for replacement," he said.

For booths and ballot boxes, the KPU is currently still carrying out the sorting process to ensure that all election process equipment in the 2024 General Election can be used.

Meanwhile, the arrival of the ballot boxes will gradually be distributed by the Indonesian KPU in accordance with the availability of polling stations (TPS) with 9,016 spread over 274 villages/kelurahan in Tangerang Regency.

"We will try this month (November) until December so that later in January it can be used," he said.

He also revealed that his party is currently investigating the location of the Voting Station (TPS) in the 2024 general election (Pemilu) in anticipation of disasters, especially floods on voting day.

"Until now, we have made an inventory, and we have informed friends at the PPK to immediately map the TPS which is considered disaster-prone (Flood)," he said.

As an effort to anticipate, the Tangerang Regency KPU has coordinated with the PPK team and also the Regional Disaster Management Agency to map the location of the TPS which is considered to be included in disaster vulnerability.

This step was taken, as to maintain the level of voter participation in exercising their voting rights in the vote later.

"Until now, we are still waiting for reports from the PPK team in the field to check the disaster-prone locations," he said.
