JAKARTA - Impact-based weather forecasts (IBF) issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) show that Central Java Province (Central Java) has the potential for flood / flash floods with Alert status on February 16-17, 2021.

"In the next week, heavy rainfall intensity is predicted to still occur. People are urged to be aware of the impacts that extreme weather can cause," said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 16.

BMKG analysis shows that the unstable dynamics of the atmosphere in the next few days can increase the potential for rain cloud growth in several regions of Indonesia.

This is due to the Asian monsoon which still dominates Indonesian territory and is strengthened by the active Rossby Equatorial and Kelvin Waves in parts of Indonesia.

In addition, the presence of a center of low pressure in northern Indonesia and northern Australia can affect wind speed and direction patterns, thereby increasing the potential for rain cloud growth around Indonesian territory.

Based on this analysis, BMKG predicts the potential for heavy rain that could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the next week, namely in West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta and East Java.

As well as in Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.

"Stay alert and be careful of the impacts that can be caused by extreme weather conditions such as floods, landslides, flash floods, puddles, strong winds, fallen trees, and slippery roads," he added.

BMKG also predicts sea waves with a height of 2.5 - 4 meters or the high category are likely to occur in the North Natuna Sea, northern waters of the Anambas Islands - Natuna Islands, northern Sabang waters, Aceh west waters to Mentawai Islands, Enggano waters - Bengkulu, West Lampung waters. , The western and southern parts of the Sunda Strait.
