Conglomerate Hary Tanoe Rogoh Rp. 163 Billion Buying 1.16 Percent Shares Of MNC Studios

JAKARTA - Conglomerate Hary Tanoesoedibjo through PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN) has increased its share ownership in PT MNC Studios International Tbk (MSIN). The additions were 860.76 million shares, equivalent to 1.16 percent of outstanding shares.

The purchase price occurred at IDR 158 per share. So that from this transaction, MNCN spent Rp163 billion from the transaction that occurred on February 5, 2021.

"The purpose of the transaction is to increase investment with direct share ownership status," said MNCN Corporate Secretary, Cahyarina A. Asri, quoted from the information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) website, Monday, February 15.

As a result, the ownership of the MNC Group through MNCN in MNC Studios shares has increased to 71.17 percent. That is equivalent to 8.14 billion from the previous 70.01 percent or 7.28 billion shares.

MNC Studios is a company that provides television program content production and distributes television and film programs in Indonesia. This company was founded on 8 May 2018.

MNC Studios started the construction of Movieland which is predicted to be similar to Disneyland, in the MNC Lido City area, Bogor Regency, West Java. MNC Lido City has obtained approval from the National Council for Special Economic Zones (KEK) as a Special Economic Zone for Tourism.

In other words, it allows the area to enjoy various tax facilities and incentives, including income tax incentives (PPh), value added tax (PPN), and sales tax on luxury goods (PPnBM), import duties and import taxes, excise, and various other licensing relief.

"This will be good for the creative economy. Creating new entrepreneurs, becoming a tourist spot for Indonesians and even abroad, creating foreign exchange, creating jobs, improving people's lives," said Hary Tanoesoedibjo.

Movieland is one of the dozens of projects in the SEZ as a whole. Movieland will be a film studio and drama series that is held outdoors and is predicted to be the center of the first film and drama series industry in Indonesia.

In addition, according to Hary Tanoe, the existence of this area has also become a creative hub that creates jobs and stimulates the tourism sector and the creative economy in Indonesia.

Movieland is built on an area of 21 hectares in the MNC Lido City area. Equipped with various production facilities such as backlots (shooting locations), sound stages (closed studios), production equipment that is claimed to use the latest technology.
