Thousands Of Singkawang Residents Also Participate In The Action Of Defending Palestine

PONTIANAK - Thousands of residents participated in the Palestinian defense action which was held at the Singkawang Regional Mess yard in Singkawang City, West Kalimantan Province, Saturday.

Acting Mayor of Singkawang Sumastro, Head of the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Singkawang City Muchlis AR, and Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Singkawang City Abdul Halim were also present at the Singkawang Action for Palestine.

The action includes the lifting of the 3x30 meter Palestinian flag and a joint prayer for the Palestinian people who are facing attacks from the Israeli occupation.

In this activity, the committee also announced the results of fundraising for the Palestinian people carried out by community organizations.

According to the committee, the donations raised to help the Palestinian people reach Rp82,562,500.

The acting Mayor of Singkawang then added the financial assistance so that it became even Rp. 100 million and members of the Singkawang City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum also increased it to Rp. 125 million.

The collected funds were handed over to the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Singkawang City to be submitted to the Central BAZNAS and then distributed to Palestine.

At the end of the action, a mother named Tiara gave aacterial to help the Palestinian people.

"I hope that our brothers and sisters in Palestine will be quickly independent and no longer colonized by other nations like today," said the resident of Bukit Batu Village while shedding tears.

The Singkawang Action Committee to defend Palestine Muhammad Tahyat is grateful that the action initiated by several community organizations in Singkawang City is going well.

"Although the preparation for the activity is very tight, thank God this action went smoothly and successfully, it was even attended by Forkopimda," he said.
