JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin handed over aid for flood victims in Subang. A total of 1,500 basic food packages were symbolically handed over by Ma'ruf Amin to the refugees at the Pamanukan District Office, Subang Regency, West Java.

Accompanied by the Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum and the Regent of Subang Ruhimat, Ma'ruf Amin also handed over 200 packages of cleaning tools and 1,000 rapid test kits, 300,000 masks, 5,000 sarongs, and 1,000 mattresses from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"We are indeed a disaster-prone country. The United Nations and the World Bank have designated the Republic of Indonesia as one of the countries with the highest disaster risk in the world", said Ma'ruf Amin at the refugee camp, Saturday, February 13.

The Vice President asked all parties to continue to carry out various concrete actions for disaster mitigation and post-disaster management. For this reason, he emphasized the contribution of the community and non-governmental organizations as well as the private sector to collaborate in post-disaster reconstruction.

Smart Work

Ma'ruf Amin also hopes that in Subang it will not happen again in the future. The reason is if it repeats itself it means we are not working smart.

"Hopefully the annual floods in Subang do not keep repeating themselves. If they are repeated, it means what we are, not smart", said the Vice President when handing over aid to victims of the Subang flood.

The Vice President said in Arabic terms, do not let a believer or a believer be stung twice in one hole. "Twice is not allowed, it means that we are not smart. Then, it happened again (flood)", he said.

The Vice President invited all parties to overcome and end the recurring floods by working hard with both the central and local governments, the community, and the business world.

He said based on reports, the floods that occurred in Subang, apart from rainfall, were also due to environmental damage in other areas around Subang.

According to the Vice President, there are two rules of Allah that must not be violated, namely the universal rules and sharia rules.

"Both must not be violated. If they are violated, there will be damage", he said.
