Allegations Of The 2024 Pilkada To Smooth Out Jokowi's Preparation For Gibran In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Are Considered Speculative

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II DPR PKB faction Luqman Hakim assessed the speculative opinion of those who suspect that President Joko Widodo and the government coalition parties have hidden agenda to prepare Gibran Rakabungming Raka in the DKI Pilgub.

Currently, there are allegations that the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada until the revision of the Election Law is stopped in connection with efforts to smooth Gibran's steps to the capital.

"But, the name is speculation or suspicion, anyone and anything is fine. This is a free country, there is no prohibition for anyone to guess," said Luqman Hakim quoted by Antara, Friday, February 12. Secretary for Social and Disaster at the DPP PKB said that if it is true that Gibran will run in the Jakarta elections in 2024, then that is a political right that is protected by the constitution.

According to him, PKB as one of the government coalition parties is not in a position of interest to answer the truth of the news because the party has its own agenda for the 2024 Pilkada, including the DKI Jakarta Pilkada. "PKB has not thought too seriously about that, currently it is only early 2021. It is a long way towards 2024, "he said. However, Luqman said, internal PKB already had preparatory steps for the Jakarta Pilkada, namely preparing potential cadres to advance in the contest.

He explained, for PKB, the decision to stop discussing the revision of the Election and Pilkada Law was due to considerations of the national situation that required the concentration of the government to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic impact that had serious problems. According to him, other government coalition parties certainly understood this situation. and therefore provide full support for this government's agenda to succeed so that people's health and economy can be restored.

"According to PKB, this decision has absolutely no agenda of personal political interests as speculated," he said.
