Golkar Yakin The Constitutional Court's Decision Does Not Change The Constitutional Court's Decision On The Age Limit For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Golkar Party DPP Ace Hasan Syadzily believes that the decision of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) regarding alleged ethical violations of constitutional judges will not change the age limits of the presidential and vice presidential candidates that have been announced previously.

"I am sure that as former and constitutional judges they will know what decision should be right in deciding the honorary assembly," Ace told reporters, Monday, November 6.

"We have to return it to our constitution that the decision issued by the Constitutional Court is final and binding," he continued. According to him, all parties must respect the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the minimum age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates 40 years or have experience being the regional head.

"Once again, we certainly believe that the MKMK according to its authority will not change the results of the decisions issued by the Constitutional Court regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates," he said.

Seperti diketahui, MKMK bakal membacakan putusan sidang etik terkait putusan MK soal batas usia capres-cawapres besok, Selasa, 7 November siang. Putusan MK Nomor 90/PUU-XXI/2023 itu menuai polemik lantaran diduga memuluskan jalan putra Presiden Joko Widodo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, sebagai bakal cawapres pendamping Prabowo Subianto.

On the other hand, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman - who participated in deciding the case - is also known as the uncle of the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is not yet 40 years old to run for the 2024 presidential election.

As a result, the Constitutional Court's decision, which sparked a polemic, triggered many reports that entered the Constitutional Court. The institution then formed the Constitutional Court to handle and decide the ethical cases of the constitutional judges. The MKMK consists of Jimly Adiddiqie, Wahiduddin Adams, and Bintan Saragih.
