Jokowi: Alhamdulillah, Indonesia Officially Becomes FATF's 40th Permanent Member

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) announced that Indonesia has officially become the permanent member of the 40th Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

"I would like to convey a good news that from the results of negotiations in Paris, at the end of last October, Alhamdulillah, Indonesia was accepted by acclamation as a permanent member of the 40th Financial Action Task Force (FATF)," said Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday 6 November, confiscated by Antara.

FATF is an international organization that focuses on global efforts to eradicate money laundering, financing terrorism, and financing weapons of mass destruction proliferation.

According to Jokowi, FATF membership is important to increase positive perceptions of the Indonesian financial system.

Increasing positive perceptions of Indonesia's financial system will encourage confidence and confidence in the business climate and investment in the country.

"This is important to increase positive perceptions of Indonesia's financial system, which will ultimately have an impact on increasing confidence, increasing Indonesia's trust in terms of business and the investment climate," said Jokowi.

Jokowi also expressed his appreciation to the National Coordination Committee for Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering and other stakeholders for their hard work and commitment so that this can be realized.

"We hope this will be the first step towards governance of the anti-money laundering regime and better prevention of Indonesia's terrorism financing," said President Jokowi.

According to information on the official website of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), by joining Indonesia as a permanent member of FATF, it will be able to make a broad contribution to the determination of global strategic policies related to Anti-Money Laundering, Prevention of Terrorism Financing (APUPPT) so that it will further strengthen Indonesia as a country with integrity and be able to contribute actively to the international arena.
