GARUT- The West Java Garut Regency Health Office (Dinkes) is collaborating with Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama and the Abhipraya Insan Cendekia Indonesia Foundation (YAICI) to educate the public on the prohibition of consuming sugary condensed food products that are considered milk for toddlers because they contain sugar that is not good for health.

"We always explain the condensed sugar for children in Garut," said Cilawu Health Center Nutritionist Nadia Nurdiyanti, a representative from the Garut District Health Office during nutrition socialization to the Sukahati Village community, Cilawu District, Garut Regency, Saturday.

He said that the problem of nutrition must be known by the public, including what types of food are good for the needs of the body and health, as well as about sweet condensed food products that are not allowed to be consumed by toddlers.

The community, especially parents, he said, must be aware of the dangers of food for the health of children, so that they must apply good parenting by always paying attention to their nutritional needs.

"We always provide education about nutritional intake to mothers," he said.

He conveyed that the socialization of the allocation of condensed milk is not yet massive, so far it is only related to the prohibition of being given to toddlers, the rest related to more about the type of food has not been further socialized.

"It is explained more in the condensed milk of sweet what it is and so on, it is not as deep as that," he said.

Head of the Health and Social Sector of the NU Muslimat Central Executive, Erna Yulia Sofihara, said that his party and related institutions are trying to move down to the community to educate about health and nutrition in order to solve the stunting problem.

In this activity, he said, it was also discussed about food from sweet condensed products that should not be given to toddlers because it would have an unfavorable impact on their health.

"We want to straighten it out to provide education that thickness is not milk but it is processed sugar," he said.

Daily Chairperson of YAICI Arif Hidayat stated that since 2018 his party has focused on educating the public about the dangers of strong and sweet for toddlers, and explaining that thickness is not a dairy product.

This activity, he said, was an effort to educate parents to pay attention to their children's nutrition, so that Garut Regency could solve the problem of stunting or malnutrition.

"However, our homework is still a lot, especially in providing education to the people of Garut about condensed sugar, not milk, and should not be consumed by toddlers," said Arif.
