TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono showed off the produce of the land from a food barn printed on land managed by the TNI in 385 locations throughout Indonesia.

The results of the earth such as rice, corn, vegetables, fruits, and marine cultivation were shown by the TNI Commander to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin during the launch (kick off) of the National Food Security Movement in Wanajaya Village, Cibitung, Bekasi, West Java, Wednesday, November 1.

Reported by ANTARA, Vice President Ma'ruf, TNI Commander, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo listened to the explanations from several units that succeeded in producing and managing food barns and reaping the results.

From the exposure of several units from three TNI dimensions, namely land, sea and air dimensions, the TNI has printed food barns with a total of more than 100 hectares in the form of rice fields, plantations, livestock, and cultivation ponds.

In Wanajaya Village, Cibitung, Bekasi, 45 hectares of land managed by Korem 051/Wijayakarta are food barns consisting of rice fields, fruits and vegetables plantations, fish farming ponds, and cattle farming complete with the use of their impurities for alternative energy.

At that location, which was designated as a pilot project for the National Food Security Movement, TNI soldiers and the surrounding community planted IR 24 rice varieties which were harvested three times a year, while in the plantation area there were fruits such as wine.

In the same location, Vice President Ma'ruf along with the TNI Commander, Minister of Agriculture, and the National Police Chief also received reports from other units regarding the results of the food barns they manage.

In Karawang, to be precise Cadas Kertajaya Village, Kodam III/Siliwangi manages food barns on more than 50 hectares of land.

The Chief of Staff of the Regional Military Command (Kasdam) III/Siliwangi Brigadier General Agus Saepul through a videocall connection reported to the Vice President and the TNI Commander that specifically for Wednesday, the rice fields that are ready to harvest are 2 hectares.

"In the next month, harvest again, and ready to plant," said Kasdam III/Siliwangi.

At the event location, he told reporters that the total land used as food barns by units under Kodam III/Siliwangi reached 200 hectares. However, not all rice fields, some chili, corn, and other commodities adjust the tradition and match the soil character.

Kasdam III/Siliwangi on the same occasion also showcased the innovation of BIOS 44 organic fertilizer which could increase rice production.

He gave an example before using the fertilizer, the rice yields that were harvested were only 5 to 6 tons per hectare, while after using BIOS 44 organic fertilizer the results were 9.5 tons per hectare.

Kasdam said the harvest at the food barn assisted by Kodam III/Siliwangi varied from 5 to 8 tons per hectare, but some reached 10 tons.

Then, the TNI Commander continued to ask representatives of the Batuporon Navy Base (Lanal) in Bangkalan, Madura, East Java, to explain the food barn he made.

In Lanal Batuporon, Indonesian Navy soldiers cultivate a vaname Shrimp pond on an area of 5 hectares. There are at least more than 6 million vaname shrimp seeds sprinkled into the pond pools to be harvested within three months.

As a result, the cultivation pond in Lanal Batuporon can produce around 50 to 60 tons of vaname shrimp per three months.

Continuing to Madiun, the Air Defense Detachment (Denhanud) 476 Air Force Rapid Action Command (Kopasgat) reported the results of its food barn in Ksatrian Denhanud 476.

Indonesian Air Force soldiers from the unit were able to produce 20 to 30 tons of gambas/oyong on an area of one hectare.

Finally, Kodam XVIII/Kasuari which includes West Papua and Southwest Papua reported to the Vice President and the TNI Commander regarding the management of an area of 227 hectares for food barns, but only 176 hectares were productive.

On an area of 176 hectares, the ranks of Kodam XVIII/Kasuari soldiers planted rice, corn, palawija, then raised cows and goats. As a result, 272 tons of corn has been distributed by Kodam XVIII/Kasuari to the surrounding community.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin also praised the TNI food security programs. He reminded the soldiers to continue to develop, expand, and increase land productivity for food.

"Don't let any land sleep and no workers are unemployed," said Ma'ruf Amin to the soldiers.
