JAKARTA - The Tanah Abang Metro Police admitted that they had not received a report from traders who felt extortion of Rp. 5 million by thugs.

The extortion is in the mode of leasing or selling sidewalk land for selling stalls on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, precisely across the Sudirman Citywalk, Karet Tengsin Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.

"There are no police reports (from traders)," said Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, Kompol Patar Mula Bona when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, November 1.

Meanwhile, regarding information from social media that went viral that there were allegations of the practice of buying and selling sidewalks by thugs to traders, the police also did not know for sure. However, his party, continued Kompol Bona, will look for the perpetrators.

"We are still under investigation (related to the sale of sidewalks)," he said.

The DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) will immediately follow up on the misuse of public sidewalk facilities on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, to be precise opposite the Sudirman Citywalk, towards the Karet Bivak TPU, Karet Tengsin Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.

In this area, sidewalks are used as stalls selling by a number of satay taichan traders who are extortioned by thugs. The incident was also recorded by amateur cameras by residents and uploaded to viral on Instagram social media.
