JAKARTA - The Sustainabe Development Goals (SDGs) in 2030 has been mutually agreed upon and adopted by all UN member countries, including Indonesia. To support this agreement, PT Vale has a long-term program to contribute positively to Indonesia's sustainable development. Through Strategic Contribution to realize Good Health and Well-being, PT Vale took concrete action to ensure a healthy community life through the inauguration of the PT Vale Stunting Intervention Program, Towards the Golden Generation in Tanjung Village, Margaasih District, Bandung Regency, West Java, Friday, October 27.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia Arifin Tasrif, Deputy for Prosperous Family and Family Empowerment of BKKBN Nopian Andusti, President Director of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk Febriany Eddy, Commissioner of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk Jasman Panjaitan, CEO of Primaya Hospital, Leona A. Karnali, Representative of the Ministry of Health Dahlia Hutagaol (Epidemiologist of Health), Secretary of Bandung Regency Cakra Amiyana and the ranks of the Bandung Regency Government.

The Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif appealed to many parties, especially mining companies, to help with stunting reduction programs in Indonesia. This is an effort to move towards Indonesia Gold in 2024.

Arifin Tasrif explained, to make Indonesia equal to developed countries, it needs to be supported by qualified, resilient and strong human resources. Especially through the nation's next generation who are still in productive age. The challenges ahead are not easy and must be well prepared, one of which is through stunting reduction programs.

"To prevent stunting, we need to pay attention to children's growth and development properly, good nutrition and good education. We must continue to encourage stunting reduction programs in accordance with the areas informed by the BKKBN so that they become priority locations that need to be handled first. In the next few years, we hope that in Tanjung Village and Bandung Regency, the stunting rate will be the lowest in Indonesia," he explained.

The Stunting Intervention Program Towards the Golden Generation which was inaugurated by PT Vale is in line with the implementation of good ESG governance management (Environment, Social, Governance) from the company. PT Vale strives to consistently play an active role in supporting government programs. In this case, through stunting intervention, both in the environment of operating activities and outside of operating activities that are indicated to have a significant impact of stunting.

The stunting intervention program run by PT Vale has referred to government directives and programs. One of them is the Letter of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 61.Und/RT.01/SJN.U/2023 Regarding the Invitation to Accelerate Stunting Reduction (March 31, 2023) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia.
