South Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office Names 6 Corruption Suspects At The Passeloreng Dam

The suspect in the alleged corruption case of land mafia acquisition and payment of land compensation for the strategic project for the construction of the Passeloreng Dam in Wajo/ ANTARA/Darwin Fatir Regency.

The South Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Special Crime Investigation Team (Kejati) finally named six people as suspects after being questioned for 12 hours on suspicion of land mafia corruption in payment of land compensation for the national strategic project for the construction of the Paselloreng Dam in Wajo Regency in 2021.

"Six people each with the initials AA, ND, NR, AN, AJ and JK were named as suspects after investigators obtained at least two valid pieces of evidence as stipulated in Article 184 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code," said Head of Legal Information Section of the South Sulawesi Attorney General's Office, Soetarmi, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

After being named a suspect, he said, investigators then examined the health of the suspects by a team of doctors from the Makassar City Health Office who stated that the person concerned was in good health and was not in a state of COVID-19.

The suspects were detained for 20 days, starting from October 26 to November 14, 2023. The suspect AA was detained at the Makassar Class IA Detention Center and for suspects AJ, JK, ND, NR, AN was detained at the Makassar Class 1A Correctional Institution (Lapas).

"The reason for the detention of the suspects is because it is feared that it can eliminate evidence and evidence related to transactions and payments for land in the former forest area," said Soetarmi.

Suspect AA is the Head of Task Force B at the Wajo Regency Land Agency Office. ND, NR, and AN are known to be members of Task Force B representatives from the community.

Meanwhile, AJ as the Member of Land Procurement Implementation (P2T) as well as the Head of Paselloreng Village, District. Gilireng Wajo Regency. As well as JK as a member of P2T as well as the Head of Arajang Village, Gilireng District, Wajo Regency.

Soetarmi said that the land acquisition of around 72 hectares with an area of 241 plots of land is a former forest area which is state land and cannot be categorized as land or cultivated land.

"So the payment of 241 plots of land has cost the state finances more than Rp. 13.2 billion based on the results of the calculation of the South Sulawesi Province BPKP," he said.

For the alleged article, namely the primer of Article 2 paragraph (1), the subsidiary of Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code with a threat of four years in prison.
