DENPASAR - The public prosecutor (JPU) submitted a cassation memory for the hate speech case involving the drummer for the band SID, I Gede Ary Astina alias Jerinx to the Denpasar District Court, Bali.

He said, filing a cassation memorandum was an implementation of Article 248 of the Criminal Procedure Code, in which the cassation applicant must submit an appeal memorandum within 14 days after the appeal is submitted.

"Filing for cassation memoranda is still within the grace period regulated by the Criminal Procedure Code. Regarding the material for the reasons for the appeal is in the cassation memory and we fully submit it to the Panel of Cassation Judges to the Supreme Court to consider it. What is clear is that there is a reason why we feel that the 10 month imprisonment has not acceptable so that it uses cassation legal remedies, "he explained.

Luga emphasized that there was no meaning of retaliation from the criminal proceedings against the defendant I Gede Aryastina alias Jerinx. The prosecutor's office still leaves fully to the legal process at the Supreme Court.

During the counter-cassation memorandum from the defendant on the prosecutor's appeal, Luga said it is estimated that in March or April a verdict on cassation memorandum will be issued.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor who handled the case I Gede Aryastina alias Jerinx had declared an appeal for the Denpasar High Court decision No 72 / Pid.Sus / 2020 / PT DPS dated January 14, 2021.

The verdict stated that he sentenced I Gede Aryastina alias Jerinx to prison for 10 months.

Responding to the appeal filed by the prosecutor, lawyer Jerin x I Wayan Suardana alias Gendo said he would appeal because Jerinx did not deserve to be convicted and Jerinx deserved to be free.
