Mahfud MD Addresses Jokowi At The Palace, Reports To Be Ganjar's Vice Presidential Candidate?

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD, who is also a candidate for vice president (cawapres) to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election, arrived at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 24 afternoon. Mahfud wants to meet President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Meeting the President, the minister's activities are routine. There are many things," said Mahfud briefly before entering the area within the Palace.

Mahfud arrived at the Palace at around 15.20 WIB. When asked whether his arrival was to officially appear before and report that he would become Ganjar Pranowo's vice presidential candidate, Mahfud did not want to comment.

Likewise, when asked about his position in the cabinet after officially becoming Ganjar Pranowo's vice presidential candidate, Mahfud only continued to walk quickly leaving reporters.

Ganjar and Mahfud have been officially registered with the KPU as presidential and vice-presidential candidates by a coalition of parties consisting of the PDI-P, PPP, Hanura Party, Perindo Party on Thursday 19 October.

Previously, Mahfud MD had sent a letter to President Joko Widodo regarding his candidacy as a candidate for vice president in the 2024 presidential election. When Mahfud sent a letter, Jokowi was visiting China and Saudi Arabia.

Mahfud at that time said that his intention and goal to meet Jokowi was to explain his ethical interests, who currently serves as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, to run as a candidate for vice president for the 2024 presidential election to accompany Ganjar Pranowo.

Mahfud submitted the letter to Jokowi after he was officially announced by the Chairperson of the PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri as a candidate for vice president.
