JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk decided to terminate the operating lease agreement with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC). The agreement is for the lease of 12 Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft which will mature in 2027. The company also ensures that it will not add new fleets in the near future.

The President Director of PT. Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, ensures that inter-regional connectivity will not be cut off unless 12 Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft are returned.

"We are very concerned about our efforts to ensure connectivity takes place. We have decided to replace the routes that have been served by 12 CJR1000s with our Boeing 737-800s", he said, in a virtual press conference, Wednesday, February 10.

Irfan said that his party also had no plans to buy a new fleet to serve the 12 CJR1000 routes.

"And there is no intention in the near future to buy new aircraft to replace this. So we maximize the existing planes", he said.

Regarding the remaining 6 CJR1000 aircraft, said Irfan, it is still in the negotiation process. "We have submitted a proposal to NAC, finalized the remaining payment and then we are waiting for their response", he said.

For your information, the Bombardier aircraft rental agreement totals 18 aircraft and 12 aircraft have been chartered by Garuda. The operating lease contract between Garuda and Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) was signed in 2011 and will be completed in 2027.
