Mount Ciremai TN Karhutla Successfully Extinguished

A total of 50 joint officers from various elements such as the TNI, police, and BPBD Kuningan managed to extinguish the land and forest fires (karhutla) that hit the Gunung Ciremai National Park (TN) area, West Java, Sunday (22/10).

"The fire was extinguished last night. It is estimated that the affected area will be around four hectares," said Head of BPBD Kuningan Indra Bayu, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 23.

Indra explained that the forest and land fires incident occurred at 11.40 WIB, Sunday, October 22, with hotspots being monitored in the areas of Batu Saheng, Sutet, and Gunung Rangkong Blocks, in Kaduela Village, Kuningan Regency.

Receiving the report, he said, BPBD Kuningan immediately dispatched an assessment and extinguishing team to prevent fires from spreading to other areas.

Thanks to the alertness and hard work of dozens of joint teams, he continued, the flames that burned the forest area of Mount Ciremai TN were extinguished at 20.00 WIB, Sunday.

"Vegenties are dominated by burning logs," said Indra.

Indra memastikan tidak ada korban jiwa dalam insiden kebakaran itu, baik dari sisi masyarakat maupun petugas yang turun ke lokasi untuk memunikan api.

According to Indra, BPBD Kuningan, which is supported by other relevant agencies, has handled many forest and land fires since early 2023 until now.

In the future, his party remains on standby and takes anticipatory steps so that fires at that point do not occur again. "Further steps will be coordinated with the Gunung Ciremai National Park Center and other related parties," he said.
