National Army And Police Task Have A Shootout With Armed Criminal Group

JAKARTA - A shootout between armed criminal groups (KKB) and the National Army and Police Task Force personnel took place on Wednesday, February 10.

The shootout occurred when officers were about to retrieve evidence in the form of a motorcycle belonging to the late Rusman Heidar (30) around Jembatan Unggul, Puncak District, Papua.

Rusman alias Aco (40), was an ojek driver who was killed on Tuesday, February 9. The body had already been brought to Timika and then taken to Makassar for burial.

"It is true that a shootout occurred when members were about to retrieve the motorcycle belonging to the victim who was tortured to death in Jenggerpaga Village, Tuesday, February 9 evening", said Chief of Police Puncak, Dicky Saragih, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 10.

According to him, there were no casualties. The joint team succeeded in bringing the evidence.

This incident began when the joint team arrived at the location at around 10.00 am local time, and when they tried to retrieve the motorcycle as evidence (BB), the armed criminal group shot them until the shootout occurred.

When the victim's motorcycle was taken, it was not at the crime scene (TKP), because it had been moved, allegedly by the armed criminal group to lure the security forces.

"The evidence in the form of a motorcycle was moved to the end of the Unggul Bridge", said Saragih.

When he was asked about the perpetrators, the Chief of the Puncak Police, who was contacted by a phone call, admitted that he could not confirm which group carried out the persecution to the point of killing Rusman Heidar, who is an ojek driver.

Heidar's body has now been evacuated to Timika, and then taken to Makassar to be buried in his hometown, said Saragih.
