Want To Meet Jokowi, This Is What Mahfud MD Will Discuss

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president (cawapres) Ganjar Pranowo, Mahfud MD wants to meet with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He is still waiting for a schedule after Jokowi returns to his homeland from a visit abroad.

"Earlier in the State Secretariat I wanted to be summoned at the first opportunity," Mahfud told reporters at the National Archives Building of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 18.

During the meeting, Mahfud will discuss a number of things. "I told you that I have registered as a vice presidential candidate in accordance with political communication and agreements with political parties," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam).

"(My wish, ed) to advance Indonesia in the future through a constitutional competition. That's all," continued Mahfud.

As previously reported, the General Chairperson of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri officially announced Mahfud MD as Ganjar's companion in the 2024 presidential election. This decision was taken after the contemplation was carried out and had a dialogue with the general chairmen and other figures.

"Bismillahirrohmanirrohim, then the vice presidential candidate chosen by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle who will accompany Mr. Ganjar Pranowo is Prof. Dr. Mahfud MD," said Megawati at the PDIP DPP Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, October 18.

As for the announcement of the vice presidential candidate, all general chairmen of the party carrying Ganjar were present, such as Plt Chairman of PPP Muhamad Mardiono, Chairman of the Hanura Party Oesman Sapta Odang, Chairman of the Perindo Party Hary Tanoesoedibjo, and Chairman of the National Winning Team Ganjar Presiden (TPN GP) Arsjad Rasyid.

Then were PDIP officials, such as PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, PDIP General Treasurer Olly Dondokambey, PDIP DPP Chairperson who is also Megawati's son, Prananda Prabowo and Puan Maharani and other cadres.
