Talking About Improvement Of Law Enforcement, Mahfud Will Focus On Fixing The Work Of The Apparatus

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president (cawapres) Ganjar Pranowo, Mahfud MD will improve the work of law enforcement officers. This step will be taken if he is elected with his partner in the 2024 presidential election.

"(The legal revolution in Indonesia begins, red) the enforcement of the apparatus," Mahfud told reporters at the Republic of Indonesia Archives building, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 18.

Mahfud emphasized that the authorities need to be disciplined because they are one of the implementers of the regulations. "If the contents of the rule of law are good, but they are still being addressed, we will start there later," he said.

"If the contents of the rules are sufficient, yes, but the apparatus must be addressed," continued the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam).

Meanwhile, regarding the possibility of revising the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) law which is considered problematic, Mahfud still wants to map it further. He will see a careful academic explanation.

"Is it true that the current KPK is backward. If you look at the quantitative numbers collected, saved and so on as well as the arrests, if that's the size, now there are more," he said.

"But the problem is where we will study it later. Maybe it will also weaken a bit but we can also learn more stronger later," concluded Mahfud.
