Sri Mulyani 'Pinched' The Ministry Of Industry's Budget Of Rp.301 Billion To Rp. 2.8 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that it has implemented a policy of reallocating spending on the 2021 ceiling of IDR 301.9 billion to IDR 2.8 trillion from IDR 3.18 billion previously.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the step was taken based on the Minister of Finance's Letter on Refocusing and Reallocation of Ministry / Institution Expenditures for the 2021 Fiscal Year.

"Despite budget savings, the Ministry of Industry will continue activities in the context of handling the COVID-19 pandemic and national economic recovery, especially the growth and development of the IKM sector," he said during a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR-RI, Tuesday, February 9.

Agus added that the 2021 period will be a year full of opportunities, so that government policies to continue the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program and the implementation of vaccinations to encourage economic activity need to be supported.

Furthermore, he explained several national priority activities that the Ministry of Industry would implement in the 2021 work plan, including vocational education and training programs.

"This activity includes industrial vocational training, implementation of industrial vocational higher education, and implementation of industrial vocational secondary education," he said.

Then, research programs and science and technology innovation. This step will be supported through activities to accelerate the use of industrial transformation 4.0, optimize the use of industrial technology, and organize forums for strengthening the capacity of green industry certification bodies.

Next, the added value program and industrial competitiveness. These activities include developing industrial standards, growing import substitution industries and downstreaming industries, improving and utilizing technology and innovation, and improving supply chains.

"Apart from that, we also held a management support program, which among others was supported by activities to increase the capacity of the State Civil Apparatus of the Ministry of Industry," said Minister Agus.
