Fugitive For 6 Months, Unscrupulous DPRD Dharmasraya West Sumatra Involved In The Persecution Case Turns Over

JAKARTA - An individual member of DPRD Dharmasraya, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), with the initials BAS who was included in the wanted list (DPO) for the alleged persecution case finally surrendered.

BAS surrendered to the Dharmasraya Police Office Tuesday, February 9 at around 07.00 WIB after six months of running away from the officers.

"It is true that he surrendered today at around 07.00 WIB," said Head of the Dharmasraya Police, AKBP Aditya Galayudha Ferdiansyah when contacted in Padang as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 9.

BAS has the status as a suspect in a case of alleged torture which resulted in the victim's death. Since his status as a suspect, BAS's whereabouts were unknown until he was finally put on the DPO in August 2020.

"In the past 7 months, we have continued to search and approach the family," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Dharmasraya Police, AKP Suyanto, said that after the surrender, his party would immediately continue investigating the case.

"The suspect underwent an intensive examination," he said.

He revealed that in the case of alleged torture that ensnared BAS, there were 10 other suspects, four of whom had already undergone trials and the rest were still DPOs.

They were declared as suspects under Article 170 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code.

The victim in that case is Dani Kumara (23) who was alleged to have been jointly assaulted by the suspects on June 21, 2020.

The incident occurred at the Koto Ranah Wali Nagari Office, Koto Besar District, Dharmasraya and resulted in the death of the victim.
