Malaysian Foreign Ministers And Indonesia Communicate With The Latest Palestinian Issues

JAKARTA - Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abd Kadir and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi discussed issues related to developments in the latest Palestine by telephone.

"I had the opportunity to speak with the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi regarding the Palestinian issue," said Zambry through his social media account accessed in Kuala Lumpur, Sunday as quoted by Antara.

Both, according to him, discussed the importance of an unobstructed humanitarian corridor to Gaza to immediately address the humanitarian crisis that is peaking today.

He said they also talked about the role ASEAN could play in the matter, as well as in the upcoming Executive Committee Meeting of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Zambry also said he had sent a message to the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Brunei Foreign Minister II to discuss the issue further.

The OIC will soon hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday (18/10) to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. The meeting will take place at the Secretariat General of OIC in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was held to observe the excalation of the military situation in Gaza and its surroundings as well as increasingly severe conditions, which endanger the lives of civilians and security and stability of the region as a whole, according to the OIC. A number of supports for the Palestinian people have been carried out by Malaysians in Kuala Lumpur since last week in several locations, including the State Mosque and the United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian people also distributed initial humanitarian assistance of 1 million Malaysian ringgits (around Rp3.3 billion) which on Thursday (12/10) was symbolically handed over by Zambry to the Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali at the People's Council Building, Kuala Lumpur.
