Ria Conference Becomes A Bridge Between Archives, Archives Community And Government

JAKARTA - The filing of cultural products such as music and films is an important thing for a country that upholds culture. In countries with a large music industry such as the United States and Britain, popular music and films have been well archived decades ago.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in synergy with Irama Nusantara also held the Ria Conference: Archipelago Archives at the National Awakening Museum, Central Jakarta on Saturday, October 14.

This event presents a meeting room for popular cultural archives from all over Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Ria Conference is part of the Irama Series: One Decade of Irama Nusantara, a series of events that present an archive exhibition entitled From Ngak Ngik Ngok to Dheg Dheg Plas, the Irama Berdendang music festival, and also the Discussion of Music Bisik-Bisik.

Ahmad Mahendra as Director of Film, Music and Media of the Ministry of Education and Culture emphasized the importance of filing popular culture in Indonesia. Not only for education, but also as a source of inspiration in the work process.

"The archive field is very important to open the window of the horizon of the source of knowledge and even the source of ideas to create works," said Ahmad Mahendra.

More than 30 archivals and the archive community were invited to the Ria Conference: Archipelago Archives, including Bogor Music Archive, Sounds From The Corner, Shindu's Scoop - Medcom.id, Liarchic Class, Archipelago Square, Indonesia Film Archivist Society, Archives Stall, Street Visuals, Pop Today, Melamun Space, Dwipanada, Indonesian Music Lovers Community, Jakarta Arts Council, PFVIDEOWORKS, National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, Riwanua, IVAA, UGM Archives Study Program, Puloraya Film Digitalization Inspection and Reparation Team, Minor Books, WR Archives, and Lokananta.

The Irama Series: One Decade of Irama Nusantara also presents music discussions through the Music Bisik-Bisik program and also the Irama Berdendang music festival on October 14 and 15, 2023.

Irama Berdendang presents Bilal Indrajaya who will perform songs from the iconic album Badai Pasti Berlalu, NonaRia who will present the works of Ismail Marzuki, Louise and Gallaby which raise memories of the figure of Roekiah, the collaboration of Batavia Collective and Fariz RM, White Shoes & The Couples Company, Alunan Nusantara, to Shara excited.
