SURABAYA - As many as 38 districts / cities in East Java have started implementing micro-based social restrictions (PPKM). This policy is different from the previous PPKM, where it was implemented in all regions and tightening was carried out starting from the RT / RW.

"PPKM Micro Scale starts today until February 22, 2021," said the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, in Surabaya, Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

This policy is in accordance with the decision of the Governor of East Java Number 188/59 / KPTS / 013/2021, Concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Micro-Based Community Activities and the Establishment of Covid-19 Handling Posts at the Village and Sub-District Levels to Control the Spread of COVID-19 in the East Java Province.

Khofifah ensured that all districts / cities in East Java would simultaneously implement RT or RW-based Micro PPKM with posts in villages / sub-districts.

"This PPKM will be implemented in all regencies / cities but based on micro, namely RT and RW, whose posts are in villages or sub-districts, and the implementation is in accordance with their respective local wisdom," said Khofifah.

Khofifah explained that this simultaneous implementation was based on the dynamics of the COVID-19 area zoning system which continues to change every day. This is also supported by the stipulation in the Ministry of Home Affairs No. 3/2021, that each regional head is allowed to add priority to restricted areas, according to the conditions and criteria in each region.

"In order to be equally effective in all regions, the implementation of restrictions is carried out simultaneously in all regions with reference to certain criteria and percentage of incidents," he said.

Khofifah said he was optimistic about the implementation of PPKM Mikro in East Java. He said that the implementation of the Micro PPKM would be very similar to the Kampung Tangguh Semeru (KTS) format which has long been implemented in East Java since the handling of COVID-19.

"Actually, we already have the best practice for this Micro PPKM, namely Tangguh Semeru Village. The point is, the smaller the unit we limit the movement, the more likely it is for us to break the chain of spreading COVID-19," he said.
