JAKARTA - Member of the NasDem faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Jupiter, explained the reason why he asked the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta to propose that the Jabodebek LRT tariff be evaluated.

The request was previously expressed by the NasDem Faction in a plenary meeting of the DKI Jakarta DPRD regarding the general view of the faction of the draft regional regulation on the 2024 DKI Jakarta APBD.

According to him, Heru could propose an evaluation of the Jabodebek LRT tariff which was considered expensive. You could say, Heru is an extension of the central government in carrying out its policies.

"This Acting Governor is an extension of the central government. We are talking to the Acting Governor, we are talking to the central government because he is an ASN appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs and appointed by the President. So he must talk to the central government," Jupiter told reporters, Thursday, October 12.

The Jabodebek LRT tariff, which is currently IDR 5,000 at the first kilometer and continues to increase the tariff by IDR 700 per kilometer with a maximum tariff rate of IDR 20,000.

According to Jupiter, if the Jabodebek LRT continues to set high tariffs, this will make people who still use private vehicles reluctant to switch modes to public transportation.

"Ideally don't go up. I'm sure all users of public transportation, if this is raised, they will definitely object. Currently, our economic condition is not okay. Especially in the face of elections, many investors are holding back money for the turnover in Jakarta," he explained.

Jupiter hopes Heru Budi can ask the central government to reduce the Jabodebek LRT tariff with a flat system and no maximum tariff. The imposition of this tariff, according to him, can be done considering that it has been applied to the KRL Commuter Line.

"We can take an example from the Jabodetabek Commuter Train which is also managed by PT KAI, but can provide a low tariff, which is a maximum price of IDR 10,000. So that residents who use transportation can be divided and there is no accumulation in one mode of transportation," explained Jupiter.

"And, it can make people who are mobility to DKI Jakarta choose to use public transportation so that the number of congestion in DKI Jakarta can decrease," he added.
