PAYAKUMBUH - The Payakumbuh Police, West Sumatra secured a state civil servant (ASN) who was suspected of committing fraud by promising the victim to qualify as a member of the Police.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Payakumbuh Police, AKP M. Rosidi, said that the suspect HP (33) was an ASN of the Ministry of Transportation of the Harbormaster and the Teluk Bayur Port Authority, Padang City, which was secured on Saturday, February 6 afternoon.

The arrest began with the victim Deswita, a resident of Tanjung Anau, North Payakumbuh District, who reported to the police because she felt cheated by the suspect.

The suspect once promised to pass his son as a member of the National Police. However, because it was not clear for several months, the victim immediately reported it.

"So the suspect was initially brought to the Payakumbuh Police as a witness. After the examination, the person concerned was immediately promoted as a suspect," said AKP M Rosidi.

"We emphasize and appeal to the public not to be fooled into recruiting Polri members, there are no charges whatsoever in the selection process to graduate to become members of the Police," he said.

Currently the suspect and evidence have been secured at the Payakumbuh Police for further investigation. For his actions, the suspect will be charged under Article 378 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of four years.
