President Jokowi Promises 5.000 Vaccines For Journalists By The End Of February

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo promised to hold a COVID-19 vaccination for journalists who are working in the media industry. Jokowi said that the vaccination plan will be carried out at the end of February.

Jokowi conveyed this in his remarks on the commemoration of National Press Day at the State Palace and it was broadcasted via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.

"I am sure there are many media crew who want to be vaccinated. Later, at the end of February to early March, we will prepare the vaccines for the media crew", said Jokowi, Tuesday, February 9.

However, said Jokowi, not all journalists receive the first phase of vaccines after health workers. Jokowi said the government was preparing vaccines for 5,000 journalists.

The vaccine that will be used later is the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine obtained by PT Bio Farma (Persero). PT Bio Farma targets 12 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from Sinovac's raw materials to be completed on February 11.

"Later, as soon as 12 million doses of Biofarma come out, we will give 5.000 vaccines to the media crew", said Jokowi.

On that occasion, Jokowi also said that currently, the government is still vaccinating health workers as a priority group.

Currently, 814.585 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 171.270 vaccinated against the second dose. Vaccine administration is carried out in two injection doses in an interval of 14 days.

The government is targeting 1.5 million health workers to receive the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, the total target for the entire community reached 181.554.465 people.

"We are currently focusing on vaccinating health workers, as well as public servants including market traders who are at the forefront of services to the community", he continued.
