Innalilahi, Ustaz Maaher At Thuwailibi Died In The Criminal Investigation Cell

JAKARTA - Ustaz Maaher At Thuwailibi alias Soni Ernata reportedly died in the Police Criminal Investigation cell. He died at 19.00 WIB.

This news was confirmed by his attorney, Juju Purwantoro. According to Juju, he died after previously undergoing treatment due to illness.

"Yes, it is true (passed away). Since starting to enter the Criminal Investigation Unit, he is still doing street treatment for his intestinal surgery," Juju told VOI, Jakarta, Monday, February 8.

According to Juju, the late Maheer was already sick before being detained. "When I entered I told him he was still on outpatient treatment. Two weeks ago he also just returned from the Police Hospital," he said.

The police arrested Soni Ernata alias Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi for alleged hate speech via his personal Twitter account @ustadzmaheer_. He was considered to have insulted Habib Luthfi bin Yahya.
