Lost Contact, Minister Of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo Called Menkumham Still Overseas

JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna H. Laoly said Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo was still abroad and had not returned to Indonesia after a working visit in Europe.

"Not yet, not yet, (Syahrul Yasin Limpo) has not yet entered (Indonesia)," said Yasonna at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 3.

Yasonna explained that his party had not received a letter of prevention from traveling abroad on Syahrul Yasin Limpo from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Therefore, there has been no effort to cooperate from other countries to find the whereabouts of the former governor of South Sulawesi.

In line with Yasonna, the Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Sylmy Karim, said that Syahrul Yasin Limpo had not been monitored back to Indonesia based on the immigration system.

Silmy detailed that Syahrul Yasin Limpo left Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, Banten, on September 24, 2023, to Doha, Qatar, in transit, before heading to Rome, Italy.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo was rescheduled to return from Europe on September 30, 2023 and arrived in Indonesia on October 1, 2023.

"But, there, we have checked that it has not been monitored in the system that the person concerned ( already exists) in Indonesia," said Jamilmy.

He explained that the name Syahrul Yasin Limpo could not be confirmed on the wanted list (DPO). Until now, the KPK has not provided an official notification regarding the investigation process of the alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture involving Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo is known to have made working visits to Italy and Spain along with three echelon I officials, a number of echelon II officials, and several Ministry of Agriculture staff. However, their return trip to the country was carried out separately.
