JAKARTA - The West Java Provincial Government built a floating pier in the southern region of Sukabumi Regency, West Java, precisely in Tegalbuleud District to help and make it easier for fishermen to carry out fishing activities.

"The construction of the floating dock is an aid from the West Java Provincial Government with a budget value of more than Rp. 4 billion with the aim of realizing the demand of fishermen, especially in Tegalbuleud District, which has wanted to build a dock for years," said Head of Development and Supervision (Binwas) of the Tegalbuleud District Government, Leni Nurliah in Sukabumi, quoted from Antara, Saturday, September 30.

According to Leni, for years, fishermen in this sub-district wanted a fishing dock to land and lean on the boat, so that with the construction of this floating dock their dream could finally be realized.

So far, to land fish and juxtapose boats, fishermen use the former iron sand mining company PT Sumber Besi Prima (SBP) on Kesikurug Beach, Buniasih Village, Tegalbuleud District.

However, the dock, which has a length of about 700 meters, is certainly not feasible, but because there are no other facilities that are more adequate, it uses the PT SBP pier, however, the condition of the dock is already damaged, so fishermen take the initiative to make connecting facilities from bamboo.

"With this floating dock or paragan, fishermen will be much easier in their activities, starting from leaning on boats, fishing to landing fish. Of course, the existence of a dock whose construction has started since August 2023 can also boost fishermen's income," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of Buniasih Badrudin Village said the number of boats in Tegalbuleud Subdistrict was more than a thousand units. Fishermen juxtaposed the boat at two locations, namely Muara Indah Cikaso and at the PT SBP pier. His party hopes that the construction of the floating dock in Muara Indah Cikaso will be completed on time and can be used by fishermen. With a more feasible dock, of course, triggering the economy of coastal residents.
