Prabowo Reveals Reasons For Wanting To Join Jokowi, Don't Want To Be Accompanied

JAKARTA - The General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party as well as the presidential candidate for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM), Prabowo Subianto revealed the reason he was willing to join the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Prabowo admitted that he did not want to be pitted in the aftermath of the 2019 presidential election fight. Prabowo held the position of Minister of Defense shortly after Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was sworn in as President of the Republic of Indonesia. "Why did I join Pak Jokowi? Because I have always understood the history of the Indonesian nation, we have always been pitted against each other," Prabowo said in his remarks at a national national seminar in Jakarta, Saturday, September 30. "And when 2019, Pak Jokowi was moved, and I was moved, we didn't want to be pitted against each other," he continued. According to Prabowo, he and Jokowi have something in common in love with the country. So that the former Danjen Kopassus finally decided to unite in the government because he did not want to continue to be pitted against each other. "Because Pak Jokowi is Indonesian. My heart, my instincts said Pak Jokowi at that time was red and white, Indonesian love, people's love, why should I be pitted against people who both love Indonesia and love the Indonesian people," said Prabowo. Therefore, Prabowo assessed, there was no reason for him to reject Jokowi's invitation to join the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

"I don't want to be pitted against each other, as he invited me. I said 'Yes, I join'. We unite and Indonesia is calm, and Indonesia is strong, and Indonesia doesn't want to be pitted against each other again," he said. Prabowo also realized that many were disappointed with him after joining the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government. He admitted that he needed hard efforts to convince his supporters, especially the mothers who hoped when he ran for Sandiaga Uno. "I understand, I understand that many of my supporters are disappointed with me. I understand that there are many who don't want me to join Pak Jokowi. I understand, especially those who are mothers," he said. "And it is true that in the end I needed time, needed effort and needed help from my friends to explain why the situation was like that," said Prabowo.
