Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate Will Narrow To 2 Names

JAKARTA - KH Muhammad Abdurrahman Kaustar or Gus Kautsar revealed that the vice presidential candidate who will accompany Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate has now narrowed to two names.

This disclosure came after Gus Kautsar attended a closed meeting between Prabowo and the East Java khos kiai which was held at the Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya, on Thursday.

"He (Prabowo) said there were about two names narrowed down, I think. But he did not mention his name specifically, because the community did not ask questions," said Gus Kaustar, in his statement, Friday, September 29.

According to Gus Kautsar, in the meeting there were no proposals from the kiai regarding the vice presidential candidate who was worthy of accompanying Prabowo.

"There is no name proposed by the kiai. He (the kiai) fully handed over to Pak Prabowo. The point is that," he added.

Gus Kautsar also considered that Prabowo had the intention to continue what President Joko Widodo had built.

"God willing (Prabowo) has the intention to then try to continue what has been built by Mr. Jokowi. Pray for and share (approved) by the people," he said.

This meeting took place behind closed doors at the Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya, attended by several kiai, including KH Abdullah Munif Marzuki from the Langitan Islamic Boarding School, Tuban; KH Nurul Huda Djazuli from the Al-Falah Islamic Boarding School, Ploso, Kediri; KH Muhammad Abdurrahman Kautsar or Gus Kautsar, as well as several other khos kiai in East Java.

Previously, the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, revealed that the name of the vice presidential candidate who would accompany Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election was being discussed by Prabowo and the general chairmen of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) party.
