Reasons For Kaesang To Join PSI: Having The Same, Wanting Young People To Be More Involved In Politics

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) youngest child, Kaesang Pangarep, said he was determined to join the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). He said there were several things that were considered, including the similarity so that young people were more involved in politics in the country.

This was conveyed by Kaesang after officially receiving PSI membership card (KTA) today, Saturday, September 23. The handover was carried out in Solo, Central Java.

"We have something in common, we want young people to be more involved in the public sector because in the election young people are usually used as passive objects. We want them to be active objects because after all, Indonesia's future for young Indonesians," Kaesang told reporters as quoted from the Surakarta News YouTube account.

In addition, Kaesang assessed that PSI is a good party and is filled with young people who are interrogant and competent. "It's just a shame, they didn't enter Senayan (DPR RI)," he said.

Furthermore, the president's son revealed that he chose to join PSI because he was often in touch with the party. For example, Kaesang claimed to have good relations with PSI Board of Trustees Secretary Raja Juli Antoni and PSI Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees Grace Natalie.

So, Kaesang later agreed when he was registered to join the party bearing the rose symbol. He admitted that the process had occurred a week before the announcement was made.

"Why don't you just take it seriously (enter PSI, ed)," he said.

Kaesang assessed that there was nothing wrong with his choice even though the party was different from his father, Jokowi and his brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who was a PDI-P cadre (PDIP). After all, he felt he had his own choice after marrying Erina Gudono.

"Well, this is my family (Erina Gudono, ed). This, you know. (So different parties, ed) shouldn't be a problem either," he concluded.
