GORONTALO - Ulama asked the community in Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, to refrain and remain calm after the incident of burning the regent's office and the destruction of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) office that occurred on Thursday. The caretaker of the Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Islamic Boarding School, Pohuwato KH Abdullah Aniq Nawawi, conveyed eight messages to the public. First, so that all parties hold back and do not prolong acts of violence that occur and come from any party, and emphasize that acts of violence are not justified in religious views. "Second, encourage all parties to immediately improve the communication pattern and immediately present a solution to the solution to the mining problem, by ensuring that the Pohuwato mining community is fulfilled by their rights, and affirmation and facilitation are given," he explained in Gorontalo, quoted from Antara, Friday, September 22. Fifth, encourage all local Islamic organizations, especially from Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), to play the function of mas’uliyyah ijtima ’iyyah (social-community duties), namely bridging communication and empowerment between the community and the government so that people's livelihoods are fulfilled. Sixth, appeal to all cadres of the Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School Syafi ’iyah to play an active role in maintaining regional stability and guarding the aspirations of the community in accordance with the capacity and capabilities of cadres. Seventh, appeal to all alumni of the Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School Syafi ’iyah and all worshipers to make spiritual efforts in maintaining the peace of Pohuwato and Gorontalo in general by reading the Shalawat Asyghil and Istighfar. Eighth, it is urgent for mediation to be held against parties by neutral institutions to maintain the conduciveness of the region.
